Ingot Way, 21-year-old dam of 1998 Horse of the Year Skip Away, was euthanized early Wednesday at Lexington's Hagyard Davidson McGee clinic after colicking, according to Mark Moloney, manager of Summer Wind Farm near Georgetown, Ky. Surgeons delivered the mare's premature Awesome Again colt by Caesarean section before she died; the foal, who was 5 1/2 weeks premature, also died Wednesday at the clinic. . . . The proposed Kentucky Derby prep for Johannesburg to be run at Lingfield Park in England on April 6 has been named the Foster's International Trial Stakes. The one-mile allowance will carry a purse of $71,400 and will go 2:10 p.m. British time (8:10 a.m. Eastern); because of its early hour there will be no simulcast hookup in the U.S. . . . Topped by a $110,000 Jade Hunter colt, Fasig-Tipton's Texas juvenile sale Tuesday at Lone Star had mixed results; the average price dipped 9 percent, declining from $23,290 last year to $21,269 this year, but the median rose 7 percent to $15,000.
