Etc. . . .

The first mare bred to 2001 Horse of the Year Point Given, an unraced Storm Cat filly named Real Cat, is in foal, Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Ky., announced Monday. Point Given (Thunder Gulch) is standing his first season at Three Chimneys for an advertised fee of $125,000 and has bred about 20 mares so far. . . . The purse for the $100,000 Texas Hall of Fame Stakes at Retama on Oct. 6, and the $50,000 Richard King Handicap at Sam Houston on Dec. 1, will be redistributed after stewards ruled that Chauffe Au Rouge, the winner of both statebred races, is ineligible for the funds after the Texas Thoroughbred Association rescinded his accreditation in January. The decision, which can be appealed, makes Chauffe Au Rouge unplaced in the races, Gold Nugget the winner of the Hall of Fame, and D C Storm the winner of the Richard King. . . .
