Topped by the $60,000 Bates Motel mare Queen Suite, Fasig-Tipton Midlantic's one-day winter mixed sale on Monday showed gains over last year. The auction in Timonium, Md., sold 123 lots for $900,700, for an average $7,323, up 18 percent, and a median of $4,200, up 20 percent. Frank Bonsal Jr., purchased Queen Suite, whom Mr. and Mrs. Rick Abbot, agent, sold in foal to El Prado . . . . An Arizona state senator introduced a bill on Monday that would authorize 1,000 video gambling machines at horse and dog tracks in the state. The bill would have to overcome opposition from Arizona Gov. Jane Hull and the state's 21 Native American tribes. . . . D. Wayne Lukas will be a guest speaker this Saturday at the Minnesota Quarter Horse Racing Association annual awards banquet at Canterbury Park.
