Sure Shot Biscuit, a winner of 23 of 40 career starts and $945,113, has been named Iowa-bred horse of the year for 2001 by the Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association. Sure Shot Biscuit this season will attempt to become the first Iowa-bred to earn $1 million. . . . Lucy Maddox Young, wife of the influential central Kentucky breeder and owner W.T. Young, died Sunday at age 82. There will be no visitation, and burial will be private. . . . As of 4:30 p.m. Eastern Monday, a $160,000 Maria's Mon yearling colt was the session leader on the opening day of the two-day Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's winter mixed sale in Ocala, Fla. . . .
