Etc. . . .

Corey Nakatani's suspension for careless riding on Forbidden Apple in the Hong Kong Mile on Dec. 16 has been reduced by more than half. His original ban, for five racing dates in Hong Kong, would have lasted from Dec. 19 to Jan. 10, as there are only two days of racing per week there, but stewards of the Hong Kong Jockey Club reduced the ban Tuesday to a total of nine days, Jan. 12 to Jan. 20. . . . Poteen (Irish River-Chaleur, by Rouge Sang) will enter stud in 2002 at Old English Rancho in California, where he will be syndicated. Stakes-winning Poteen, a group-placed runner in Europe, will stand for a fee of $2,500 live foal.
