Kenneth Nesky, 64, a longtime trainer in New York and a former steeplechase rider, died Friday due to complications of diabetes. Nesky’s best horse was Shopping for Love, a multiple-stakes-winning New York-bred that banked $600,000. . . . The Claiming Crown, which will be held at Ellis Park this year, has been scheduled for Aug. 4, with nominations closing on April 27. Two distance changes will be made because Ellis Park does not card 1 1/16-mile races: the $50,000 Iron Horse will be shortened to a mile from 1 1/16 miles, and the $150,000 Jewel will go to 1 1/8 miles from 1 1/16 miles.Kenneth Nesky, 64, a longtime trainer in New York and a former steeplechase rider, died Friday due to complications of diabetes.
