Sweet Stream will continue her late-starting 6-year-old campaign for Team Valor at San Siro in Milan on Sunday when she takes on Godolphin's defending titleholder, Cherry Mix, in the $230,000 Gran Premio del Jockey Club. The 1 1/2-mile Group 1 seems tailor-made for Sweet Stream. . . . Fair Grounds will hold its annual handicapping tournament on Dec. 2-3, a qualifying event for the Daily Racing Form/National Thoroughbred Racing Association National Handicapping Championship, with the local winner eligible for a $1 million bonus. Don Amos, the chief operating officer of Magna Entertainment Corp., retired from his position effective Oct. 6, according to a release issued Thursday by Magna. The company named Jim Bromby and Brant Latta as senior vice presidents of operations to replace Amos, who received $709,000 in compensation in 2005, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. . . . The purse for the Breeders' Cup Grand National Steeplechase has been increased to $250,000 from $200,000 after both the Breeders' Cup and National Steeplechase association contributed an extra $25,000 to the prize. The race will be run Oct. 28 at Far Hills, N.J.
