Jack Smallwood, a former Daily Racing Form chart-caller and columnist, died Tuesday at age 76 at his home in Pembroke Pines, Fla. Smallwood joined Daily Racing Form in 1956 and worked at various tracks until his retirement in 1992. . . . Pomeroy, winner of the Grade 1 Forego, will retire to stud after his scheduled start in the Breeders' Cup Sprint. He will stand at Cloverleaf Farms in Florida for a yet-to-be-determined fee. . . . Go Now prevailed by a half-length over Yacht Broker in Tuesday night's $75,000 Fall Stakes at Mountaineer. Ridden by Calvin Borel, Go Now ($5.40), covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:50.98 over a fast track. . . . John Ryan Devereux, a former owner of the Howard County Hunt Club in Maryland and the father of veteran Thoroughbred trainer Joe Devereux, died Saturday at age 83.
