Ohio's secretary of state declared Tuesday that a racetrack-sponsored petition for a referendum on the November ballot asking voters to approve 31,500 slot machines at seven racetracks and two other locations in the state has been approved. Backers of the effort had recently collected additional signatures from state voters after the initial drive fell short to put the referendum on this year's ballot. . . . Crestwood Farm in Lexington, Ky., will add Grade 2 winner Unbridled Energy to its stallion roster in 2007. A 4-year-old Unbridled's Song-Ataentsic horse who won the Grade 2 San Fernando Breeders' Cup Stakes this year and the Grade 3 Marine Stakes last season, Unbridled Energy will stand for $10,000 as the property of a syndicate that includes WinStar Farm. . . . Suarez Racing has purchased Grade 1-winning millionaire Kissin Kris and will move the 16-year-old stallion from Buck Pond Farm near Versailles, Ky., to Tommy Town Thoroughbreds in California. Kissin Kris (Kris S.-Toes Forward, by Your Alibhai), the sire of Canadian champion Kiss a Native, will stand for $5,000 in 2007.
