Sheikh Mohammed al-Maktoum's Darley organization has acquired four stallions - leading British sire Green Desert as well as Cadeaux Genereux, Royal Applause, and Key of Luck - from the Gainsborough breeding operation of his late brother Sheikh Maktoum al-Maktoum, who died in January. The four will continue to stand for now at their current locations at farms in England and Ireland. . . . The Grade 2 Cotillion Handicap, a fixture at Philadelphia Park since 1969, has been renamed the Fitz Dixon Cotillion Breeders' Cup Handicap, in honor of the former chairman of the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission who died earlier this month.
