Nathanaelle Artu, the second-leading female rider in France, died Monday on her 22nd birthday from head injuries suffered in a fall at Le Lion d'Angers on Sunday. She turned professional in March 2005 and had won 29 races from 261 mounts since then. Artu was the daughter of one of France's former leading jump riders, Jean-Yves Artu. . . . Delaware Park canceled its card Tuesday because of extreme heat. Temperatures were in the mid-90's with a heat index of near 100.
