Etc. . . .

A memorial service for James G. Logsdon, a veterinarian who worked at tracks in the Midwest for 30 years, mostly at Oaklawn Park and Arlington Park, was held Wednesday morning at First Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs, Ark. Logsdon died Saturday at age 69 after a long battle with cancer. . . . Churchill Downs sent off a care package to Barbaro - the Kentucky Derby winner who sustained a life-threatening injury in the Preakness - on Wednesday, including 12 6-by-4-foot get-well cards signed by fans and a feed tub full of horse toys and treats. Meanwhile, Barbaro continues to make a remarkable recovery, the colt's surgeon, Dr. Dean Richardson, said Tuesday at a press conference.
