Espindola tries for three in row

EmailEspindola, unbeaten in two starts and already a stakes winner, heads a field of seven 2-year-old Pennsylvania-bred fillies in the $75,000 Eavesdrop Stakes at Philadelphia Park.

The only two-time winner in the field, Espindola comes off a 5 1/4-length romp in the Blue Mountain Juvenile at Penn National, but the competition she beat was suspect. The fourth-place finisher, Gally's Way, came back to win a slowly run allowance with a 34 Beyer Speed Figure, and two others who have since raced earned weak Beyers of 19 and 13.

The two best Beyers in the Eavesdrop belong to Miss Jazzmin, who has run three straight good races since she was claimed by trainer Randy Allen for $40,000. Miss Jazzmin has been freshened since winning her maiden with a 67 Beyer on Oct. 20.

Driven by Winning also merits consideration. She comes back two weeks after winning her career debut by 3 1/2 lengths and would be formidable if she moves forward in her second start.
