Error voids 6th-race bets at Laurel

The sixth race on Wednesday's card at Laurel Park was run for purse money only as the result of an error involving the official numbers that appeared in some programs.

Although Laurel's track program and Daily Racing Form correctly indicated there was only one coupled entry in the sixth race, the simulcast program erroneously linked two horses trained by John Rigattieri as numbers 1 and 1A. The proper coupling of a pair of runners from trainer Eddie Gaudet's barn was given the incorrect designation of 2 and 2X, instead of 1 and 1A. As a result, all the horse numbers in the race were incorrect in that version of the program.

An announcement about the mistake was made at Laurel before the first race. Prior to the second race, Laurel officials announced that race 6, a one-mile event for $25,000 claimers, would be run for purse money only. All advance wagers involving the sixth race were refunded.

Klink, ridden by Jonathan Joyce for trainer King Leatherbury, held off Halo's Slate Clean by a head.
