Equine Sales of Louisiana catalogs 233 for yearling sale

The Equine Sales Company of Louisiana has cataloged 233 yearlings for its select sale, to be held at 10 a.m. Central Sept. 3 in Opelousas, La.

The catalog represents a 34 percent increase from the 174 yearlings cataloged for the company’s inaugural select yearling sale in 2013. Last year’s sale saw 132 horses change hands for $1,714,300, with an average of $12,987 and a buyback rate of 18 percent. An Eskendereya colt sold for $140,000 to top that sale.

“The 34 percent increase in catalog size shows that consignors were pleased with the results last year, and we think buyers will be impressed with the quality of this year’s catalog,” Foster Bridewell, sales director for Equine Sales Company, said. “We have progeny of more than 100 stallions in the sale with a good mix of top Kentucky stallions and a long list of leading Louisiana stallions.”
