Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi’s first foal born in England
Email
Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi was represented by his first foal Jan. 9, a colt born at Blue Diamond South in Newmarket, England.
The colt is out of the Giant's Causeway mare Island Dreams, who was purchased for 190,000 guineas, or about $305,000, by agent Tony Nerses for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar at the Tattersalls December sale.
"He's a correct, quality foal," Nerses said. "We're very happy with him."
Island Dreams' first foal is a yearling colt by Duke of Marmalade.
Pour Moi, a 5-year-old Montjeu horse, won three of five career starts for earnings of $1,313,155, highlighted by a victory in the 2011 Epsom Derby. Also a Group 2 winner in France, he was among the favorites for that fall's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe until suffering a career-ending injury while training for that race.
Pour Moi is one of four winners from as many starters out of the unraced Darshaan mare Gwynn, including Group 3 winner Gagnoa and stakes winner Kisses.
