Entry tops Temptress

The entry of Wave Pool and Juicy Loots should be favored in the $50,000 Temptress Stakes at Great Lakes Downs. The Temptress is contested at six furlongs and has drawn a field of nine Michigan-bred 2-year-old fillies.

Wave Pool made an undistinguished debut, finishing sixth of 10, but improved greatly in her second out on Aug. 14 when she handily won her maiden by seven lengths, earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 58, the highest in this field. Wave Pool is trained by Ronnie Allen and will be ridden by Mike Allen.

Clever Idea has crossed the finish line first in both of her starts, but she was disqualified in her first start after winning by a head and placed second behind Juicy Loots. She returned to win by 1 1/2 lengths. Leading rider Federico Mata has the call.

After being placed first in her debut, Juicy Loots was outrun while facing open company in the $85,000 Mountaineer Juvenile.

Other winners in the field include Exit Sixty, who won her lone start; Wedding Prospect, a winner in her fourth start; and Irish Date, who will be treated with Lasix for the first time Saturday after wining her maiden.
