Red Cadeaux, the winner of the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup in May, will be favored to win his fourth stakes in Thursday’s Group 2 Princess of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket, the first day of the three-day July meeting.

There are Group 1 stakes on Friday (the Falmouth Stakes) and Saturday (July Cup) at Newmarket.

A 6-year-old gelding trained by Ed Dunlop, Red Cadeaux has lost his last two starts, finishing second in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Epsom on June 2 and third in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23.

There are nine entrants in the Princess of Wales’s Stakes, which is run over 1 1/2 miles. Red Cadeaux’s top rivals are Harris Tweed, third in the Yorkshire Cup, and Jakkalberry, fifth in the Hardwicke.

Thursday’s program also includes the Group 2 July Stakes for 2-year-old colts and geldings over six furlongs.

Sir Prancealot, fourth as the favorite in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 19, is expected to go favored in a field of nine. Two other entrants were stakes placed at Royal Ascot – Alhebayeb in the Windsor Castle Stakes and Gale Force Ten in the Norfolk Stakes.

There is one stakes winner in the field in Chilworth Icon, who won the Group 3 Premio Primi Passi at Milan, Italy, on July 1. The July Stakes will be Chilworth Icon’s seventh start.
