ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Jockey Emma-Jayne Wilson was under observation in a hospital on Monday after suffering a lacerated liver during a spill here last Saturday.

Wilson was aboard Flo’s Henny in the seventh race when the filly broke down, pitching her to the racetrack. Flo’s Henny had to be euthanized.

Although she walked to the ambulance under her own power, Wilson was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

Wilson’s agent, Mike Luider, said she had no broken bones and he did not know when she could resume riding, but that he is taking her off her mounts this week.

“She’s doing really good,” said Luider. “There’ll be no surgery, but she’s having her red blood cell count tested regularly and they’re keeping a close eye on her.”

Heading into the current week, Wilson stands sixth in the Woodbine standings in races won with 61 and fourth in purses won with $3.45 million.
