Chu and You, ridden by Juan Gutierrez, got her second stakes win Sunday in the $49,500 Barbara Shinpoch.

Chu and You scored a front-running, 2 1/2-length victory in the $49,500 Barbara Shinpoch Stakes at Emerald Downs on Sunday night to remain unbeaten in three career starts and get her second stakes win.

Chu and You, ridden by Juan Gutierrez, once again was the quickest from the gate in the 6 1/2-furlong Shinpoch, leading the field of seven 2-year-old fillies through a quarter-mile in 21.90 seconds and a half-mile in 44.54 while building a 1 1/2-length lead. Chu and You ($3.60) increased her advantage to four lengths at the head of the stretch and wasn’t seriously challenged the rest of the way, stopping the clock in 1:17.00.

Strawberry Dawn was second, 5 1/4 lengths ahead of Charismata in third. Jockey Rocco Bowen was unseated by Decatur Princess at the break but returned to ride in the next race.

Trained by Robert Baze, Chu and You began her career with a front-running, 5 3/4-length win in a $25,000 maiden-claiming race going five furlongs at Emerald Downs in July. The daughter of You and I returned Aug. 4 to wire the six-furlong, $45,000 Angie C. Stakes by 4 3/4 lengths. She’s earned $59,249 for owners and breeders Michael and Amy Feuerborn. The Washington-bred filly is out of the Volponi mare Bronze Charmer.

Baze has several options for Chu and You’s next start. She could return on short rest Sept. 8 in the $50,000 Northwest Farm Stakes for Washington-bred juvenile fillies at six furlongs or wait until Sept. 29, when she would face statebred 2-year-old males in either the $75,000 Gottstein Futurity at 1 1/16 miles or the $50,000 NWSS Cahill Road Stakes at six furlongs.
