Elusive Quality colt fastest

LEXINGTON, Ky. - An Elusive Quality colt out of Pleas Write was the only juvenile to breeze an eighth-mile in 10 seconds, the fastest time at Monday's preview for Keeneland's April 15 2-year-olds in training sale.

Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree Stables has consigned the colt, who will sell as Hip No. 62 at the auction here. The bay colt's dam, Pleas Write, is a stakes winner by Staff Writer and has produced a winner in American Writer.

The afternoon's fastest workers over a quarter-mile were an Our Emblem filly, a Good and Tough colt, and a Siphon filly, all of whom went the distance in 21.20 seconds. The Our Emblem filly, Hip No. 47 in Parrish Farms and American Equistock's consignment, is out of the winning Nijinsky II mare Northern Glance. The Good and Tough colt is a half-brother to a Coaching Club American Oaks runner-up, Tarnished Lady, and will sell as Hip No. 113 from Tony Bowling and Bobby Dodd, agent. The Siphon filly, a daughter of Venezuelan stakes winner Expedicionaria, is Hip No. 224 in the Leprechaun Racing consignment.

The only juvenile working three-eighths of a mile was Hip No. 182, a Deputy Commander filly, who posted a time of 35.60 seconds. A chestnut, she is out of the unraced Storm Cat mare Cat's Image, the dam of stakes-placed Lake Effects and Tippytoe Cat. She is cataloged as part of Tony Bowling and Bobby Dodd's consignment.

A final under-tack preview will take place Monday at 10:30 a.m.
