Elloluv to be rested until spring

Elloluv, a three-time stakes winner and one of the top 3-year-old fillies of 2003, will be given a break until early spring after emerging from Saturday's Grade 1 La Brea Stakes with a cut on the outside of her right foreleg, owner Paul Reddam said.

Reddam is hopeful that Elloluv could return in April or May.

"She'll be out for a while," Reddam said.

Trained by Craig Dollase, Elloluv finished sixth in the La Brea as the 6-5 favorite. She raced in traffic on the backstretch and never threatened the winner, Island Fashion.

Elloluv, a Gilded Time filly, finished second in the Breeders' Cup Distaff and won two graded stakes in 2003: the Grade 2 Santa Ynez at Santa Anita and Grade 1 Ashland at Keeneland. She finished fourth in the Kentucky Oaks in May and then was off until running second (placed fourth) in the Grade 2 Lady's Secret Breeders' Cup Handicap at Santa Anita in September, her prep for the Breeders' Cup.
