Ellis Park: My Perfect Ten rolls to victory in Ellis Park Turf Stakes

Email

My Perfect Ten made her first start for trainer Steve Lyster a memorable one Saturday, rolling to an easy triumph at 8-1 in the $50,000 Ellis Park Turf Stakes in Henderson, Ky.

With Roberto Morales aboard, My Perfect Ten quickly drew off in the final furlong of the 1 1/16-mile race to finish 3 1/4 lengths ahead of another 8-1 shot, Run a Risk. Soft Whisper was just a head back in third as the 8-5 favorite.

My Perfect Ten, a 5-year-old Kentucky-bred by Perfect Soul, returned $18.80 after finishing in a swift 1:40.89 over firm going. She was bred by her owners, the Cudney Stables, who only recently turned her over to Lyster. The mare now has won 5 of 18 lifetime starts.

Heavenly Landing, the 3-1 second choice, ran fourth in a field of eight fillies and mares that was reduced by the early scratches of Artemus Kitten, Joharmony, and Lily the Pink.

The $2 exacta (11-4) paid $142, the $1 trifecta (11-4-9) returned $274.50, and the 10-cent superfecta (11-4-9-5) was worth $67.25.
