Added Edge wins the $75,000 Governor's Handicap at Ellis Park on Saturday.

Trainer Dale Romans and jockey Mark Guidry teamed for another stakes win at Ellis Park, when Added Edge defeated Discreet Hero in a long drive Saturday in the $75,000 Governor's Handicap at the Henderson, Ky., track.

Added Edge, owned by Team Valor and Robert Wilson, raced closest to front-running Discreet Hero for nearly the entire trip of the one-mile Governor's. Down the stretch, Added Edge gradually edged away to prevail by three-quarters of a length for his sixth victory from 14 starts.

Added Edge, a 4-year-old Smart Strike colt, paid $12.20 after finishing in 1:35.34 over a fast track. Roar of the Tiger finished third, another 7 1/4 lengths back, while Sonic West, the 9-5 favorite, never was a factor and finished fifth of the 10 older horses.

Added Edge was making his first start for Romans after having been overseen by two other trainers. The colt's last start resulted in a sixth-place finish at Delaware Park in early June.

Romans and Guidry won the premier race of the 54-day Ellis meet, the Aug. 7 Gardenia Stakes, with Angela's Love.
