Ellis: Favorite Keiai Sakura wins

Email

Keiai Sakura, the 2-1 favorite, outdueled Evil Eye Aly, the longest shot in the field, in the Audubon Oaks, which was scheduled for 1 1/16 miles on turf but was run instead at one mile on a muddy main track.

Keiai Sakura, ridden by John McKee, contested the early pace outside of Indy Fire before Evil Eye Aly moved to challenge. Those two separated themselves from the field leaving the half-mile pole, and then Keiai Sakura went on to win by 1 1/4 lengths over 64-1 Evil Eye Aly.

Keiai Sakura returned $6 after finishing in 1:39.43. Dress to Impress finished third, followed by Dyna Da Wyna, and the 2-1 second choice, Ruby's Reception.
