Grade 1 winner and sire El Corredor has been purchased by Tevfik Celikoglu of Turkey to stand in 2015.

The 17-year-old son of Mr. Greeley previously stood at the Stallion Station at Copper Crowne in Opelousas, La., where he stood the 2014 breeding season for $3,500.

El Corredor has sired 10 crops of racing age, with 550 winners and more than $36.7 million in combined progeny earnings. His runners are led by Grade 1 winners Adieu, Backseat Rhythm, Crisp, and Dominican. He also has had international success at stud, with champions in Puerto Rico,  Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and the Dominican Republic.

“El Corredor will continue his fantastic career in Turkey, and Mr. Celikoglu once again added a wonderful proven sire to the Turkish stallion ranks,” said Marie Yoshida, who helped negotiate the deal. “The Turkish Thoroughbred breeders fully appreciate the quality of El Corredor and he will cover some of their best mares in the years to come.”

El Corredor is out of the unraced Silver Deputy mare Silvery Swan, whose foals include Grade 1 winner and sire Roman Ruler, Grade 3 winner Silver Tornado, and Grade 1-placed Maimonides, also a sire.

El Corredor will join Offlee Wild and Utopia among the U.S.-based stallions to debut in Turkey for the 2015 breeding season. Celikoglu’s purchase of Offlee Wild was announced earlier this week.
