Eight-time winner Wise Awake among nominees for top horse at Finger Lakes

Wise Awake, a 5-year-old mare who collected her eighth win of the meet last Tuesday, is among the candidates for 2010 horse of the year at Finger Lakes.

The best performers in various age and class categories will be announced at the local Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association dinner on Nov. 20.

In addition to Wise Awake, trained by M. Anthony Ferraro, other nominees for leading horse at the meet include Gold for the Queen, who won one stakes and finished second in two others; and three four-time winners at the meet - Lieutenant Dan, Pro’s Pal, and Remarkable Storm.
