Eight stakes on Gold Rush card

The Snow Chief Stakes is the richest race on a 10-race California Gold Rush Day program dominated by races for California-breds. In the past, all 10 races were restricted to California-breds, but this year only eight are for statebreds. Two turf stakes are no longer run on Saturday's program.

The Snow Chief Stakes drew a field of eight. Self Made and Alphie's Bet have the inside two post positions.

Four of the races are worth $100,000 or more. In the $150,000 B. Thoughtful Stakes for fillies and mares over 7 1/2 furlongs, U R All That I Am, who won the Cat's Cradle Handicap here in November, leads a field of five.

The 2009 stakes winners Camille C and La Nez are part of a field of seven 3-year-old fillies in the $150,000 Melair Stakes over 1 1/16 miles. Defending champion Liberian Freighter drew the rail in the $150,000 Tiznow Stakes over 7 1/2 furlongs.
