Email

Eight candidates will seek election for six spots on the Breeders’ Cup Board of Directors, to be decided on July 15 at the annual meeting of Members.

Three of the board members are incumbents seeking re-election, while five aim to join the Board. The election will be determined by the 45 Breeders’ Cup Members at the organization’s annual meeting, and the results will be announced afterward.

The four candidates receiving the most votes will serve four-year terms, while the two candidates that finish fifth and sixth will each serve a one-year term.

The Breeders’ Cup Board comprises 14 directors, of whom the Members elect 13. The president and CEO, Craig Fravel, is an ex officio director with full voting rights.

The eight candidates seeking election on the Breeders’ Cup Board are:

- Barbara Banke of Stonestreet Farm

- Bill Casner, an owner/breeder
- William S. Farish Jr. of Lane’s End, the board’s current chairman
- Bobby Flay, an owner/breeder and celebrity chef
- W. Bruce Lunsford, an owner/breeder and head of Lunsford Capital
- Dan Pride of Darley
- Elliot Walden of WinStar Farm, an incumbent

Vote out Elliot Walden and Will Farish. Vote in Bobby Flay. The BC Board is broken and needs new blood. The BC should be a 1 day event. The BC is running races where there is no Eclipse Award. Put them on the undercard on the East and after the BC races on the West coast.
