Eddie Martin was seriously injured in a July 4 spill at Canterbury Park, but it could have been a lot worse. Martin fractured two vertebrae, his clavicle, his toe, and another bone in his foot, but his spinal cord wasn’t damaged, nor did Martin experience any sort of paralysis. He was released from the hospital Thursday and will be out of action at least 90 days, according to his agent, Chuck Costanzo. Martin, 53, has been riding since 1980 and has won 3,853 races.
