Ec Jet One continues sensational season in All American Derby

From South Florida to the New Mexico mountains, Ec Jet One has been brilliant at 440 yards this year.

Sunday at Ruidoso Downs, Ec Jet One won his third derby of the year, and sixth consecutive race, in the $2,415,084 All American Derby, the richest derby for Quarter Horses. Earlier this year, Ec Jet One won the Hialeah Derby at 400 yards in January and the South Florida Derby at 440 yards in February for owner Enrique Carrion and trainer Judd Kearl.

Ec Jet One’s win in the All American Derby represented the richest career victory for Carrion, Kearl, and jockey Esgar Ramirez.

Ec Jet One ($7) ran 440 yards in 21.49 seconds in the All American Derby, finishing a half-length in front of Celtic Emblem, a 25-1 outsider. Brave Heart Won, another 25-1 shot, finished third in the field of 10. Kearl trains Brave Heart Won and had four runners in the final.

Volcom Bay, trained by Kearl, was fourth, and was followed by Jess Envision, First Fancy Racy, A Fulton Classic, One Fabulous Eagle, First Valiant Sign, and Boogies Special Dash.

First Fancy Racy and A Fulton Classic were vanned off after the race as a precaution, according to a track official.
