Dunkelberger wins No. 3,000

EmailTravis Dunkelberger made the most of his lone mount on Wednesday's card at Laurel Park, winning the 3,000th race of his career aboard Casey Doon in the featured eighth race.

"I never really thought about milestones," said Dunkelberger, who ranked in the top five nationally in wins in 2000 with 352 and 2001 with 395. "I just try to go out and ride horse to horse and not worry about numbers."

Dunkelberger, 30, had been sitting on 2,999 since last Friday afternoon at Laurel and went

Charles Town before returning to Maryland.

The 3-year-old Casey Doon ($8) was third choice in a field of six sprinters in a $25,000 optional claimer and won by a length.
