Dublino victorious in Wilshire Handicap

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Grade 1 winner Dublino returned from a six-month layoff and scored an emphatic victory in the Grade 3, $111,000 on Sunday at Hollywood Park. The 4-year-old filly won the mile turf race by two and a half lengths in a stakes-record 1:33.62 to reestablish herself as one of the top female turf runners in California.

Southern Oasis finished second; unlucky 7-5 favorite Final Destination steadied sharply on the far turn after being bumped by a rival, hit the rail, lost position, and re-rallied for third. The order of finish was completed by: Damaschino, Coney Kitty, Turtle Bow, Little Treasure, Melody Blue and Rhythm Of Life.

Trained by Laura de Seroux and ridden by Kent Desormeaux, Dublino paid $7.80. Her win price was the lowest in the pick six series. As a result, no one hit the pick six, which features a carryover into Wednesday of $171, 685.

As a 3-year-old last year, Dublino won the inaugural American Oaks but was disqualified and placed second, followed by winning the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks, then finished 10th in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf. The Wilshire was her first start since. She has won three of six.
