Vengeance of Rain, winner of last year's Dubai Sheema Classic, was eased in Saturday's Centenary Vase at Sha Tin (won by Bullish Luck) and retired after being found to have an irregular heartbeat for the second time in his career. An 8-year-old New Zealand-bred gelding, Vengeance of Rain won 10 of 26 career starts and earned $8,557,899. . . . Emma-Jayne Wilson finished sixth aboard Syllabus in the Centenary Vase, one of five unplaced rides for the Canadian jockey in her first day of riding since being granted a license by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. . . . Quendom, the dam of the 2006 Horse of the Year, Invasor, foaled a bay Distorted Humor colt on Sunday, Hill 'n' Dale Farms announced Monday. For Quendom, an 11-year-old Argentine-bred mare, it is her first foal by Distorted Humor. . . . Beulah Park canceled racing Monday when the track was deemed unsafe by the riding colony after unseasonably warm temperatures thawed the frozen surface, making it uneven. Racing was scheduled to resume Tuesday.
