DRF creates wagering app

Daily Racing Form Inc. has launched an app that allows customers of its betting platform to place bets on an iPhone, the company announced Wednesday.

The updated DRF Bets app was made available on the App Store two days prior to the Friday Breeders’ Cup card at Santa Anita and offers customers the ability to make bets on iOS devices like the iPhone for the first time. The app is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices, although the devices must run on an 8.0 version of iOS or a later version for the app to work.

John Hartig, the chief executive of DRF, said the company was eager to introduce the app prior to Breeders’ Cup weekend and that “additional functionality” will be added to the app later this year.

“This is a wagering experience that only DRF can provide, with the convenience of handicapping, watching, and wagering all in one place,” Hartig said in a release.

DRF Bets is a branded wagering platform run by XPressbet, an account-wagering company owned by The Stronach Group. Customers of the DRF account-wagering platform also receive free access to DRF editorial content and handicapping analysis that is kept behind the website’s paywall.

Along with the Triple Crown races, Breeders’ Cup weekend is a prime marketing focus of account-wagering operators. Most account-wagering operators offer promotions in the lead-up to the Breeders’ Cup due to the event’s popularity.
