Dreaming of Anna dangerous on lead

Without question, this is the scene of her greatest feat. Dreaming of Anna clinched an Eclipse Award and capped an undefeated 2-year-old season by winning the 2006 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs, and she will try to rekindle some of those memories in the Saturday finale, the Grade 3 Early Times Mint Julep Handicap, the last of the six Foster Day stakes.

Dreaming of Anna, with Garrett Gomez riding, will break from post 3 in a field of 11, the largest field of the Saturday stakes program. With a career bankroll of nearly $1.9 million, the 4-year-old filly will be a solid favorite - and therefore a single to end many a pick six and pick four ticket - in the $150,000 Mint Julep, a 1 1/16-mile grass race for fillies and mares.

Frank Calabrese is the breeder and owner and Wayne Catalano the trainer of Dreaming of Anna, whose 14 starts include two Churchill races subsequent to her Breeders' Cup victory. She finished a distant sixth in the 2007 Kentucky Oaks, and was second as the 7-5 favorite in her most recent race, the Distaff Turf Mile on the May 3 Kentucky Derby undercard.

Always a pace presence, Dreaming of Anna surely will be the one to collar when the real running begins in the 32nd running of the Mint Julep.

If she is to be caught, the most logical candidates to do so include Street Sounds, a multiple stakes winner from the Michael Matz stable; Danzon, a classy mare trained by Todd Pletcher; and three fillies coming off allowance wins over the Churchill turf course: Sprung, Ballymore Lady, and Kiss With a Twist.
