Dover Downs
Sunshine Beach cruised in his Matron elimination.

Sunshine Beach, making his first start since his sensational second place finish in the Breeders Crown on October 19, scored easily in a $53,462 elimination race at Dover Downs for the Matron. John Campbell guided the son of Somebeachsomewhere to the lead past the :27 opening quarter and then set rated fractions winning handily in 1:50 1/5. Emeritus Maximus, Twilight Bonfire and Vegas Vacation followed the winner home.

Also advancing to the final will be Messenger winner Ronny Bugatti, Captaintreacherous-conqueror Dedi’s Dragon along with Doctor Butch and Swift As A Shadow.

Sent off as the 1-2 favorite Sunshine Beach returned $3.

Smilin Eli returned to winning form easily capturing the Matron elimination for three-year-old male trotters. Tim Tetrick guided him to a 1:53 1/5 wire-to-wire performance as the even money choice. Bluto and Possessed Fashion followed Smilin Eli around the track and finished second and third respectively.

All Bets Off, the son of Bettors Delight that came closest to beating the spectacular unbeaten freshman Hes Watching, had no trouble capturing the Matron elimination for juvenile pacing colts in a field reduced to seven by two scratches. The son of Bettors Delight paced off in 1:51 3/5 for driver Matt Kakaley. Ron Burke trains All Bets Off. McWicked and Stevensville followed the winner home.

Breeders Crown runner-up Nuncio was overpowering on the front end for driver John Campbell in one of two Matron eliminations for juvenile trotting colts. Nuncio scored decisively over It Really Matters in 1:55 2/5. Karets and Another Deposition also advance to next week’s final.

Well Built was a 6-1 upsetter in the other Matron for juvenile trotting colts closing off a contested pace for driver Jim Meittinis. The son of Muscle Hill posted a 1:55 2/5 clocking defeating Skates N Plates. Favored Don Dorado tired after setting a contested pace and finished third but will join Another Transcript in the final despite the third place finish. Chris Ryder trains and part-owns Well Built.

Trainer Jimmy Takter dominated the two-year-old distaff Matron action. Breeders Crown winner Shake It Cerry made no mistakes in the event for trotters making good on a 1-9 promise for driver Ron Pierce in 1:54 4/5. Ali Blue got to the front after an early tuck and posted a 1:51 4/5 clocking to score in the race for the pacing set. Yannick Gingras guided the American Ideal-sired filly over stablemate Instant Respect.

Ma Chere Hall bounced back after a miscue cost her money in the Breeders Crown with an easy victory in the lone Matron elimination for three-year-old trotting fillies. With Corey Callahan in the bike Ma Chere Hall went wire-to-wire in 1:54 holding off a determined bid by Southwind Cocoa. Time To Kill finished third.
