Doug Scharbauer buys Valor Farm in Texas

Doug Scharbauer purchased Valor Farm, located in the North Texas town of Pilot Point, from the estate of his late father, Clarence Scharbauer Jr., earlier this month, according to farm general manager Ken Carson.

Doug Scharbauer has raced such horses as Fiftyshadesofgold, a Grade 3 winner of more than $400,000 bred by his father, and He’s Comin In Hot, winner of last year’s Grade 3 Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs.

“He loves the business,” Carson said. “He loves the farm, and so it’s just going to roll right on.”

The 393-acre Valor Farm will have three additional stallions for the new breeding season next year: Congaree, Grasshopper, and Too Much Bling. The horses previously stood at Lane’s End Texas, which is closing down operations. It dispersed of horses during the Texas Thoroughbred Association summer yearling and mixed sale Monday at Lone Star Park.

Clarence Scharbauer’s late wife, Dorothy, and his daughter, Pam, raced 1988 Horse of the Year Alysheba.
