Don't Tell Mommy wins Pioneer Stakes


BOSSIER CITY, La. - Don't Tell Mommy ran his record to a perfect two-for-two by rallying strongly from off the pace to win Sunday's Pioneer Stakes. Longshot Kubwa outran his price to finish second in the meeting?s first stake for 2-year-olds with Rowdy Profit surviving a foul claim to finish third.

Gerard Melancon kept Don't Tell Mommy ($8.80) off the early leaders as four rivals battled it out on the front end. Melancon swung his mount out five wide exiting the turn and the winner responded with a nice burst of energy down the lane, drawing clear by five and three quarter lengths in a time of :59.23 for the five furlongs over a fast strip.

The winner is trained by Steve Asmussen for Millennium Farms and is a homebred son of Capote out of the French Deputy mare My Meggie Meg.
