Dominguez wins five

Jockey Ramon Dominguez rode five winners at Aqueduct on Friday, equaling his career high at a New York Racing Association track. Dominguez also rode five winners last March 9 over Aqueduct's inner track.

Dominguez went 5 for 8 on the card, scoring with Alley Singer ($4.40) in the first and Pennyrile ($4.90) in the third before winning three consecutive races aboard Time Piece ($8.60), Charming Jim ($9), and Cavallo Pazzo ($5.30) in races 6 through 8. Three of the winners were for trainer Tony Dutrow.

Dominguez had a chance for a sixth win aboard the 3-5 favorite, Loyal Chief, in the finale but he could do no better than third.

"Today was one of those days where I knew I was riding a lot of good horses," said Dominguez, who had his ninth multiple win day at Aqueduct since Jan. 1. "Going into the day, it looked like I should win a bunch of races, but you know how this game goes.''

Dominguez leads the meet rider standings with 55 winners, nine more than runner-up Eibar Coa.
