Snake Proof stamped herself a filly to watch as she rallied smartly to capture the $50,000 El Paso Times Handicap on Sunday at Sunland Park.

A 3-year-old Petionville filly owned by Everest Stables Inc., Snake Proof ($10.20) was one of three runners sent out by trainer Henry Dominguez in the field of six going 6 1/2 furlongs. Dominguez's trio swept the top three spots in the race.

Snake Proof, now 2 for 2 lifetime, sat back off strong fractions under Joe Martinez, made steady headway on the far turn, and continued her momentum to the wire to win by a length. Kube a Noqua, previously unbeaten in her first two starts, rallied well to be second. Dominguez's other runner, R Charlie's Angel, was part of the hot pace and stayed on gamely for third.

Valid Lilly, the 9-5 favorite and a pace battler with R Charlie's Angel, finished fourth.

Snake Proof covered the distance in 1:16.13. The $30,000 winner's check pushed her career earnings to $42,600.
