Doddsprivatelabel rallied farthest outside to prevail in a four-horse photo Saturday in an exciting renewal of the $110,000 Claiming Crown Express at Gulfstream Park in south Florida.

Sent away at 12-1, Doddsprivatelabel made up steady ground while forced to stay wide from his far-outside post in a field of 14 in the Express, finally out-nodding a trio of rivals in the six-furlong race.

Slan Abhaile, the 3-1 favorite, rallied up the rail to be second, a nose ahead of Big Legacy. Union Label was fourth in the crowded finish across the wire.

Ridden by Jorge Vargas Jr. and trained by Marcos Zulueta, Doddsprivatelabel returned $27.40 to win after finishing in 1:10.77 over a sealed track rated “good.” It was his eighth win from 28 career starts.

Doddsrprivatelabel, a 4-year-old Texas-bred gelding by Suave, had made his previous start on prep day, Nov. 1, at Laurel Park. He had been based at Parx Racing most of the year.

The $2 exacta (14-4) paid $176, the $1 trifecta (14-4-13) returned $985.60, and the 10-cent superfecta (14-4-13-5) was worth $803.
