Doctor Dino fillies run one-two in France

Multiple Grade/Group 1 winner Doctor Dino was represented by his first winner May 9, as his daughters Virimoon and Monlora De Luna finished one-two in a maiden race at Tarbes Racecourse in France.

Virimoon bested Monlora De Luna by a neck to earn the victory, covering 1,100 meters (about 5 1/2 furlongs) in 1:11.11 over a turf course rated soft. The 2-year-old filly, out of the Titus Livius mare Tymoon, was making her first career start. She is the second winner from as many to race out of her dam.

Monlora De Luna is out of Delta Diva, a daughter of 1998 Belmont Stakes winner Victory Gallop.

Doctor Dino, an 11-year-old French-bred son of Muhtathir, raced in seven different countries over six seasons, winning or placing in 14 graded or group stakes while bankrolling $3,822,226. He won back-to-back editions of the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase in 2007-08 and made a successful raid on the U.S. in 2007 to win the Grade 1 Man O' War Stakes and finish third in the Arlington Million.

Group 1-placed in France, England, Dubai, and Singapore, he captured three additional stakes, including the Group 2 Grand Prix de Chantilly, in France.

Retired to stud in his home country, Doctor Dino, who is out of the Priolo mare Logica, stands at Haras du Mesnil near Le Mans, France, for a fee of about $3,897 (3,000 euros).
