A filly by Dixie Union worked a furlong in :9.80, the fastest time for the distance at Keeneland's 2-year-olds in training under-tack show.

Dixie Blossom, a filly by Dixie Union, was the only horse to complete a one-furlong breeze in under ten seconds on Thursday during the under-tack show for Keeneland’s April 2-year-olds in training sale.

The bay filly clocked in with a time of :9.80 seconds for an eighth of a mile, topping ten horses that breezed one furlong in ten seconds flat. Dixie Blossom is out of the winning Lemon Drop Kid mare Lemon Blossom, who has produced one winner from two to race. She is from the family of Canadian champion Hero’s Love, Grade 3-placed stakes winner Love Kiss, stakes winner Love Sting, and Grade 3-placed winner Zapparition.

Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, agent, the filly was a $100,000 purchase at the 2012 Keeneland September yearling sale.

“She was a beautiful mover on the racetrack,” Brennan said. “She didn’t look like a Quarter Horse. She had reach, and she looked like a filly that would stretch out. She’s out of a Lemon Drop Kid mare, so there’s no limit to how far this filly should be able to run. We’re very happy.”

The fastest quarter-mile time came courtesy of a colt from the first crop of Irish stallion Thewayyouare, who finished in 21 seconds flat.

The bay colt is out of the winning Polish Numbers mare Tanca, who is the dam of one winner from two to race. His sale page includes Grade 2 winner Heart of Joy and Grade 3 winner Midnight Cry.

A $60,000 purchase at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Eastern fall yearling sale, the colt is consigned by Eddie Woods, agent.
Keeneland’s one-day select sale will commence on Monday, April 8 at 4 p.m. Eastern at the company’s sales pavilion in Lexington, Ky.
