A diverse collection of young stallions will be represented in Wednesday’s consignor select yearling auction put on by the Equine Sales Company of Louisiana. There are 192 individuals on offer after four yearlings were supplemented to the sale, which will take place at the auction house’s facilities in Opelousas, La. During last year’s consignor select auction, 135 yearlings sold for $1.4 million. The average was $10,929. For the Wednesday renewal of the sale, there are offerings from the first crops of the Grade 3 winners Astrology, Bullet Train, and Calibrachoa; the Florida Derby winner Dialed In; the multiple Grade 2 winner Dominus; the multiple stakes winner Ide Like a Double; the Grade 2 winners Redding Colliery and Rule; and the four-time Louisiana-bred Horse of the Year Star Guitar. There also are yearlings by such young stallions as Archarcharch, Interactif, Lookin At Lucky, Regal Ransom, Telling, and Wilburn. The yearlings that pass through the ring will be eligible for a new pair of 3-year-old sales stakes races at Evangeline Downs. The stakes will start in 2016, while Wednesday’s yearlings will be eligible for the divisions in 2017. Consignors represented at this year’s select auction include 4M Ranch, Muscadine Farm, Red River Farm, Select Sales, and Sunset Stables.
