Distinctive Code scores in Majorette Handicap

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Sunday's closing day feature, the Majorette Handicap, failed to produce much drama as Distinctive Code won in a laugher. Took Out rallied from last to finish second, four and a quarter lengths behind the winner. Bailey's Affair, coupled with Took Out, finished third followed by Cielo Girl.

Kirk LeBlanc put Distinctive Code ($4.60) on the lead from the start and the Larry Robideaux charge set fractions of :23.05 and :45.32 en route to a clear advantage early in the turn. By the time the winner stepped through a quick three quarter split of 1;09.42, the issue had long since been decided. The final time for the seven furlongs was a stakes record 1:22.30 over a fast strip.

Owned by Billie Courtney, Distinctive Code has now won eight times from 21 starts, including all four of her outs over the local main track. Sunday's winner's share of $24,000 increased her career earnings to over $262,000.
