Discreet Cat romps in return

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Discreet Cat turned in one of the most impressive performances of the meet on Friday, drawing off to an easy 11-length victory over five overmatched allowance rivals in the third race at Saratoga.

Discreet Cat, who had not raced since easily beating a field that included Invasor in the United Arab Emirates Derby at Nad al Sheba on March 25, circled his field on Friday to assume command approaching the quarter pole, then drew off without need of any encouragement from jockey Garrett Gomez. His final time of 1:21.53 was the fastest seven-furlong clocking of the meet.He paid $2.80.

Discreet Cat will make his next start in the $150,000 Jerome Handicap at Belmont Park on Oct. 1.
