At the Disco ends year on winning note

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - At the Disco led all the way Friday night, beating Dubai Gold by two lengths in the $80,000 Alysheba Stakes at the Meadowlands.

The 1 1/16-mile Alysheba was the final stakes of the meet that concludes Dec. 5.

It was also the final race of season for At the Disco ($23.60), who got his third win this year - all in stakes.

The previous two came against New Jersey-breds at Monmouth Park in the Bernie Dowd and Lincroft handicaps.

The Alysheba was the second-straight open stakes at the Meadowlands for the gray 5-year-old trained by Mary Hartmann. He was a tiring sixth in the Grade 3 Cliff Hanger on the turf last month, a loss Hartmann pinned on yielding course.

Back on the fast main track, At the Disco was in charge right from the break with Daniel Centeno aboard.

Broadway Producer took a run at the leader approaching the quarter pole but could not sustain the challenge, finishing third.

Hartmann said At the Disco will be turned out for the winter in Ocala, Fla.

"We'll see him back at Monmouth next summer," Hartmann said.

Ea and Racketeer dead-heated for fourth. National Pride was sixth, followed by Encaustic, Ready or Not, and Talkin About Love.

* Trainer Michael E. Gorham won his 1,000th career race on Friday when he sent out Marquis Jet to victory in the second race.
