Devious Rumor all the way in Remington Turf Sprint

Devious Rumor went wire-to-wire for a 2 3/4-length win over favorite Okie Ride in Friday night’s $50,000 Remington Park Turf Sprint. Okie Ride was attempting to win the race for the fourth straight year. The Remington Park Sprint was the first stakes race of the season in Oklahoma City.

Devious Rumor ($9.80) took the field through an opening quarter of a mile in 21.74 seconds, then went on to cover the five-eighths on firm turf in 56.05 seconds. Belen Quinonez was aboard for Doyle Williams and trainer Scott Young.

Devious Rumor, a mare who was facing males in the Remington Park Turf Sprint, is a daughter of Street Boss. She has now won nine of 16 starts.

The Remington Park Turf Sprint was restricted to 3-year-olds and up bred in Oklahoma.

Remington was forced to cancel its final race Friday night after a thunderstorm accompanied by heavy winds moved into the area. The storm shut down portions of the track’s lighting system.

Remington is scheduled to race Saturday night, with a first post of 7 Central.
