Former champion jockey Frankie Dettori has been temporarily suspended for testing positive for a banned substance at Longchamp Racecourse on Sept. 16, according to a statement released Wednesday by France-Galop, the country’s regulatory body.
The statement did not reveal the length of the suspension, but said the decision was “based on medical grounds.” Details of the September test have not been announced.
Dettori, 41, gave evidence at a hearing Tuesday to France Galop’s medical committee. The committee’s findings have been forwarded to France Galop’s stewards, who are expected to announce a decision in the next two weeks.
Dettori’s lawyers told British press Wednesday that the jockey will not ride until he learns more of his fate with French officials. Dettori was at Longchamp on Sept. 16 to ride a program that featured several major stakes.

What does "temporary" suspension mean? Its not like he can ever get those days back if they allow him to ride back again.
Is it self imposed or the track is not allowing him to compete?
This is getting strange.

So he took lasix before the race instead of the horse?

SIZZLING GOLD looks well situated. The 6yo mare has been a pro for a long time - you don't win 11 times by accident - and some of her best work has come sprinting on turf, on THIS turf course. After nearly 4 months off she came back to be a solid 3rd for $40K on this course June 2 and with that under her belt and a 2-level class drop she looks primed. Oh, that bullet :47 move here June 15 looks like a thumbs-up, too. HEAT TRAP finished full of run to get up in the final stride and in her turf sprint debut here May 19. She obviously has ability but it's first time vs.
